Commercial papers (CPs) are issued by financially sound corporations and institutions to meet their immediate working capital requirements, such as accounts payable, inventory and payroll. These unsecured, short-term debt instruments are offered at a discount to their face value. They mature within a year, allowing investors to earn returns while allowing companies to raise short-term funding, flexibly and cost-effectively.
