In simple words: A gap is the difference between the closing price of the previous candle and the opening price of the next one. Price just jumps — no trading happens in between. Gap Up When price opens much higher than the previous close, we get a Gap Up. It usually shows strong buying interest or positive news. Gap Down When price opens much lower than the previous close, we get a Gap Down. This often signals selling pressure or negative news. That’s it!
