Dr. Sandip Ghosh, Ex-RG Kar Principal, Involved in Multi-Crore Scam

The former controversial principal of R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, India, was involved in a major financial fraud. On November 29, 2024, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India submitted a charge sheet in the financial fraud case.

Dr. Ghosh is accused of manipulating the tender process, outsourcing projects to private companies instead of the state's Public Works Department, smuggling bio-medical waste from the hospital and selling organs from unidentified bodies sent for autopsies.

There are recorded video statements from witnesses who were colleagues of Dr. Gosh. According to the Medicine Procurement Committee members, Dr. Gosh compelled them to sign the procurement-related document and ignored their objections regarding these purchases.

Dr. Gosh and his acquaintances, providers Biplabh Sinha and Suman Hazra, are involved in this case.The inquiry team has identified Dr. Gosh, Suman, and Sinha. The main beneficiaries of the alleged scheme are currently in judicial custody.
