Equities & Gold Rebound as Yen Sinks;

Big Tech Earnings in Focus Nasdaq100, S&P500, Gold & USDJPY Analysis

Global stock markets bounced back strongly, driven by robust trade metrics and a sharp recovery across semiconductor and AI-related growth shares. Concurrently, persistent geopolitical uncertainties in the Middle East renewed demand for safe-haven assets, pushing spot gold prices significantly higher.

In the foreign exchange market, the Japanese Yen encountered heavy selling pressure, sending USD/JPY past 163.00 to trade near its lowest levels since 1986.

Focus Shifts to Big Tech Earnings & AI Capital Expenditure

The market's main focus is locked on this week's corporate earnings slate, headlined by major tech leaders including Alphabet, Tesla, and IBM. Investors are paying close attention to management guidance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) capital expenditure (CapEx).

Technical Outlook & Major Trading Zones

Nasdaq 100 (UT100): Technical Trend Remains Downward

Despite the latest bounce, the overall chart structure for the tech-heavy benchmark remains negative following its recent breakdown. Corporate earnings starting today will determine whether the index can build a lasting recovery or resume its downward move.

UT100, H4 Chart

On the 4-hour chart, recent price action formed a series of lower highs followed by a breakdown below a converging triangle pattern. In addition, moving averages on the 4-hour timeframe show a negative crossover, signaling a bearish shift in momentum.

Near term, the index is testing key overhead resistance between 29,000 and 29,300. If earnings guidance fails to ease market worries about AI spending returns, this resistance zone is likely to cap further gains.

S&P 500 (US500): Eyes on the 7,500 Level

The broader benchmark index has reclaimed the 7,500 mark, though a sustained bullish trend remains uncertain given recent price action and shifting investor sentiment around earnings results.

US500, H4 Chart

Technically, the focus remains on the recent consolidation triangle, which reflects easing buyer momentum.

In a downside scenario, a failure to hold above 7,500 opens the door for a deeper pullback or an extended period of range-bound consolidation with limited upside.

Conversely, in an upside scenario, holding above 7,500 keeps the short-term recovery intact, but upside moves remain capped below resistance at 7,590 – 7,600 unless earnings beat expectations and restore broad market confidence.

Gold (XAU/USD): Short-Term Bullish Reversal

Over in precious metals, spot gold held its primary support baseline at $4,000, sparking a strong rebound supported by safe-haven buying and confirming strong buyer defense at this level.

XAUUSD, H4 Chart

Gold cleanly broke out of its short-term downward triangle pattern, pushing past $4,050 and piercing above $4,100 to confirm renewed buying momentum.

XAUUSD, H1

Chart In the near term, watch for a potential pullback to retest support at $4,100. The short-term outlook favors a buy-on-dips strategy, provided prices stay above this newly established support level. This technical breakout reflects a textbook bullish reversal setup, keeping the near- to mid-term outlook promising.

USD/JPY: Breakout to 40-Year Highs

USD/JPY broke out of its consolidation triangle, surging past 163.00 to mark a fresh 40-year high. This price action reflects strong dollar demand, though temporary pullbacks remain possible following such a typical breakout move on a weak Yen.

USDJPY, H4 Chart

The clean move above the triangle pattern confirms strong upward momentum. As long as the pair holds above converted breakout support at 162.50 – 162.70, the path of least resistance remains tilted to the upside, with the Japanese Yen remaining under broad selling pressure.

Market Outlook & Asset Summary

Global stock markets recovered on strong trade data and buying across chip stocks, but the sustainability of this rally depends heavily on Big Tech earnings and AI spending guidance.

While USD/JPY trades near 40-year highs above 163.00 and Gold stays well-supported above $4,100 on safe-haven demand, equity benchmarks face key resistance levels. The Nasdaq 100 remains capped below 29,000 – 29,300, while the S&P 500 must hold its 7,500 baseline to avoid a deeper pullback.

· Nasdaq 100 (UT100): Negative Trend / Consolidating; facing key overhead resistance at 29,000 – 29,300 with H4 bearish moving average crossovers intact.

· S&P 500 (US500): Neutral / Range-Bound; holding above 7,500 support, with gains capped below 7,590 – 7,600.

· Gold (XAU/USD): Short-Term Bullish; confirmed a textbook triangle breakout above $4,050 and $4,100, favoring buying on dips above $4,100.

· USD/JPY: Strong Upward Breakout; cleared its consolidation triangle to trade above 163.00, recording fresh 40-year highs with support near 162.50 – 162.70.
