The enactment of the Financial Services Commission Act in December 2001 established the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC) as an autonomous regulatory authority responsible for the permission, regulation, supervision of all financial services in and from within the BVI, which includes insurance, banking, fiduciary services, trustee business, company management, investment business, and insolvency services, as well as the registration of companies, limited partnerships and intellectual property. Since 2002, FSC assumed the responsibility for functions previously carried out by the Government through the Financial Services Department. FSC, as financial services regulator, is also responsible for promoting public understanding of the financial system and its products, policing the perimeter of regulated activity, reducing financial crime, and preventing market abuse.

Public Statement 4 of 2021 - GFC INVESTMENTS LIMITED Public Statements PUBLIC STATEMENT GFC INVESTMENTS LIMITED Tortola, British Virgin Islands - 29 January 2021 - The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (the "FSC") considers it necessary to issue this Public Statement in order to protect the customers, creditors or persons who may have been solicited to conduct business by GFC INVESTMENTS LIMITED and to make the general public aware that the entity has never been licensed or regulated by the FSC to carry on any type of financial services business. The details are: GFC INVESTMENTS LIMITED is falsely purporting to be regulated by the FSC to conduct investment business including Forex trading services and is believed to have circulated a forged investment business licence falsely purporting to have been issued by the FSC. Financial services business, if conducted in or from within the BVI, or by a company registered in the BVI, is required to be licensed and regulated by the FSC. GFC INVESTMENTS LIMITED is a former BVI company which was dissolved and removed from the Register of Companies on 31st October 2015. The FSC hereby informs the public that GFC INVESTMENTS LIMITED is not and has never been licensed or regulated to carry on investment business, including Forex trading transactions or any other type of financial services business, in or from within the BVI. Members of the public are advised to exercise extreme caution if solicited at any time to conduct business with GFC INVESTMENTS LIMITED. The public is invited to provide the FSC with any relevant information on any questionable entities which are purportedly operating in or from within the Territory, and on any improper activities engaged in by such entities. The FSC has issued this Public Statement pursuant to Section 37A of the Financial Services Commission Act, 2001.
