By January 2018, MiFID II will replace the EU-wide MiFID I, which has been in place since November 2007. MiFID II legislative framework aims to strengthen investor protection and improve the functioning of financial markets, making them more efficient, flexible and transparent.

According to regulatory information, GWG’s location is 62 Athalassas Avenue, Mezzanine floor, Strovolos, Nicosia 2012, Cyprus. The inspection team paid a field visit to this site. 

The surveyors first came to Athalassas Boulevard, where signs in both English and Greek were clearly visible.

The surveyors then arrived at 62 Athalassas Boulevard, where they were greeted by a modern building. Huge glass walls set the whole building off at a very high class.

After entering the building, the surveyors did not find GWG on the company directory sign inside the building.

To ensure the accuracy of the survey results, the surveyors went to Floor M as is shown the on the company’s license. Unfortunately, the surveyors did not find GWG there.

Conclusion

Following a field visit, the inspection team did not find GWG at the address on GWG’s Cyprus regulatory licence. According to the staff working there, the name GWG has never been heard of.
