Inspection Reason

The inspection team continued its field survey campaign as part of the efforts to inspect the compliance and integrity condition within the forex brokerage sector. Recently, the inspection team received investor reports that the website of Australia-based company Ord Minnett could not be opened. To learn about the situation, the inspection team sent its survey team to Australia to get some first-hand information about the company.  

Office

According to the address it provided, Ord Minnett had its head office at Level 8, 255 George Street, Sydney. The inspection team sent its survey staff there for a field investigation.

The survey staff went into the building and found Ord Minnett’s name on a floor guide in the reception area, according to which the company was indeed on the 8th Floor, consistent with the address it provided.  

The survey staff took an elevator to the 8th Floor and saw a directory sign for Ord Minnett as soon as they got out.

The survey staff found Ord Minnett’s office according to the sign. They felt that although the reception area was not too large, it was clean and bright. The surveyors then took a few pictures of the reception desk area and went on their way back contentedly. 

Conclusion

A field investigation confirmed the physical presence of the Sydney-based broker Ord Minnett. The company claims to hold a general financial license from the Australia ASIC (237121), but we suspect the claim was not true; a check with the regulator suggests that the aforementioned registration and licensing details belong to another entity.
