Reason for this visit
The international forex market in Hong Kong has been developing since the 1970s. Due to the removal of forex control in Hong Kong since 1973, there has been a large inflow of international capital, and an increasing number of financial institutions operating forex business have mushroomed. The forex market has become more and more active, developing into an international forex market. Hong Kong forex market is an invisible market without a fixed trading venue. Traders conduct forex transactions through various modern communication facilities and computer networks. Hong Kong’s geographical location and time zone conditions are similar to those of Singapore, making it very convenient to trade with other international forex markets. Participants in Hong Kong forex market are mainly commercial banks and financial companies. There are three types of forex brokers in this market: local brokers, whose business is limited to Hong Kong; international brokers who have expanded their business to the Hong Kong forex market since the 1970s; international brokers that grow locally and has expanded their business to forex markets abroad. In an attempt to help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of current status of forex brokers in Hong Kong, WikiFX survey team plans to pay on-site visits to local companies.
On-site visit
In this issue, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit forex broker Hai Cloud Exchange as planned according to its regulatory address that Unit 1901, 19/F, The Sun’s Group Centre, 200 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
The seasoned and professional inspection team, committed to safeguarding investor interests, conducted a meticulously planned on-site verification of the broker Hai Cloud Exchange in The Sun’s Group Centre at 200 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai.
The Sun’s Group Centre is a modern commercial tower standing prominently along the bustling Gloucester Road. The surrounding area exemplifies a typical Hong Kong business district: well-connected by transport, equipped with mature amenities, and maintaining an ordinary yet tidy and orderly environment.
No external signage related to “Hai Cloud Exchange” was observed on the building exterior. To ensure a thorough verification, the investigators proceeded to the lobby to cross-check the directory. They easily accessed the building’s spacious and well-lit ground-floor lobby. Their immediate task was to review the company directory, prominently displayed either electronically or statically. The team quickly located the 19th-floor listing, where the name “Hai Cloud Exchange” was clearly registered, confirming the firm’s legitimate occupancy at this address. Brand logos of other tenant companies were also visible in the lobby.
To further validate the findings, the inspectors proceeded to the target floor for physical confirmation. They took the elevator directly to the 19th floor. Upon exiting, they followed floor signage or doorplate indicators and successfully identified Unit 1901.
The company’s logo for “Hai Cloud Exchange” was prominently displayed at the unit’s entrance or nearby public areas, conclusively verifying its precise location. At this stage, the inspectors confirmed the accuracy of the registered address—19th floor, Unit 1901—as both authentic and traceable.
However, despite reaching the unit’s entrance and confirming its branding, they were not granted access to the internal office space. Limited observations through glass doors or from the entryway revealed a standard office environment with functional interiors, consistent with typical commercial decor.
Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that the broker maintains a physical presence at the above address.
Conclusion
The survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker Hai Cloud Exchange as scheduled and found the company at its regulatory address. It signifies that the broker has a physical office at the place. Meanwhile, investors are advised to make a well-considered decision following much deliberation.
