According to forex traders, the rupee gave in to the early momentum owing to worries prevailing over the 25% additional US tariff on Indian goods, likely to be in effect from August 27. It resulted in robust dollar demand from importers. The rupee started at 87.74 at the interbank foreign exchange market, reached an early high of 87.63 and hit an intraday low of 87.80 against the greenback.
