The enactment of the Financial Services Commission Act in December 2001 established the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC) as an autonomous regulatory authority responsible for the permission, regulation, supervision of all financial services in and from within the BVI, which includes insurance, banking, fiduciary services, trustee business, company management, investment business, and insolvency services, as well as the registration of companies, limited partnerships and intellectual property. Since 2002, FSC assumed the responsibility for functions previously carried out by the Government through the Financial Services Department. FSC, as financial services regulator, is also responsible for promoting public understanding of the financial system and its products, policing the perimeter of regulated activity, reducing financial crime, and preventing market abuse.

Public Statement 19 of 2021 - DAWEDA LIMITED Public Statements PUBLIC STATEMENT DAWEDA LIMITED Tortola, British Virgin Islands - 28 June 2021 -The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (the "FSC") considers it necessary to issue this Public Statement in order to protect the customers, creditors or persons who may have been solicited to conduct business by DAWEDA LIMITED and to make the general public aware that the entity has never been licensed or regulated by the FSC to carry on any type of financial services business. The details are: DAWEDA LIMITED is purporting to be providing investment business services to the general public. This is regulated activity under BVI legislation and may only be carried out by a company which is licensed and regulated by the FSC to conduct investment business. The FSC hereby informs the public that DAWEDA LIMITED is not and has never been licensed or regulated to carry on investment business, or any financial services business, in or from within the Territory. Furthermore, DAWEDA LIMITED was struck off the BVI Register of Companies on 1 May 2021 and is consequently prohibited from conducting or engaging in any business activity. Members of the public are advised to exercise extreme caution if solicited at any time to conduct business with DAWEDA LIMITED. The public is invited to provide the FSC with any relevant information on any questionable entities purportedly operating in or from within the Territory and any improper activities engaged in by such entities. The FSC has issued this Public Statement pursuant to Section 37A of the Financial Services Commission Act, 2001.
