Reason for this visit

The international forex market in Hong Kong has been developing since the 1970s. Due to the removal of forex control in Hong Kong since 1973, there has been a large inflow of international capital, and an increasing number of financial institutions operating forex business have mushroomed. The forex market has become more and more active, developing into an international forex market. Hong Kong forex market is an invisible market without a fixed trading venue. Traders conduct forex transactions through various modern communication facilities and computer networks. Hong Kongs geographical location and time zone conditions are similar to those of Singapore, making it very convenient to trade with other international forex markets. Participants in Hong Kong forex market are mainly commercial banks and financial companies. There are three types of forex brokers in this market: local brokers, whose business is limited to Hong Kong; international brokers who have expanded their business to the Hong Kong forex market since the 1970s; international brokers that grow locally and has expanded their business to forex markets abroad. In an attempt to help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of current status of forex brokers in Hong Kong, WikiFX survey team determines to pay on-site visits to local companies.

On-site visit

In this issue, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker LUKFOOK as planned according to its regulatory address that Suite 2201-07&2213-14, 22/F, COSCO Tower, 183 Queens Road Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

A seasoned and professional inspection team, committed to safeguarding investor interests, conducted a meticulously planned on-site verification of the prominent forex broker LUKFOOK at Cosco Tower in Sheung Wan.

The target location is situated in the heart of Hong Kongs Sheung Wan financial and commercial district, characterized by dense pedestrian flow and a vibrant business atmosphere. The COSCO Tower area features diverse commercial offerings including financial institutions, retail stores, dining establishments and residential spaces, with excellent transportation access - all hallmarks of a prime business hub.

Upon arrival, the investigators first cross-checked the buildings exterior signage with address records. The modern high-rise office tower features clean-lined glass curtain wall architecture, presenting an image consistent with financial sector tenants.

The inspection team subsequently accessed the COSCO Towers ground floor lobby where clearly marked floor directories were observed. The directory expressly listed “Units 2201-2207 & 2213-2214 – Luk Fook Financial Services Limited” on the 22nd floor, matching the registered address precisely.

Proceeding to the 22nd floor via elevator, the team verified additional directory information in the common area. The floor directory indicated “Luk Fook Financial Services Limited” for Units 2201-2207, showing only minor formatting variations from the registered name while maintaining accurate core information. Notably, Units 2213-2214 were also registered under the same corporate entity, confirming occupancy across multiple adjacent units.

Within the 22nd floor corridor area, the investigators observed prominent “LUKFOOK FINANCIAL” branding and corporate logos clearly displayed on the glass doors of Units 2201-2207, with unobstructed visibility and no damage to signage.

Although internal access was not obtained, basic office layout was observable through the glass partitions. The interior featured minimalist decor with ample lighting, meeting professional standards for financial sector workspace environments.

Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that the broker maintains a physical presence at the above address.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker LUKFOOK as scheduled and found the company at its regulatory address. It denotes that the broker has a physical office at the place. Meanwhile, investors are advised to make a judicious decision following much deliberation.
