Reason for this visit

The international forex market in Hong Kong has been developing since the 1970s. Due to the removal of forex control in Hong Kong since 1973, there has been a large inflow of international capital, and an increasing number of financial institutions operating forex business have mushroomed. The forex market has become more and more active, developing into an international forex market. Hong Kong forex market is an invisible market without a fixed trading venue. Traders conduct forex transactions through various modern communication facilities and computer networks. Hong Kongs geographical location and time zone conditions are similar to those of Singapore, making it very convenient to trade with other international forex markets. Participants in Hong Kong forex market are mainly commercial banks and financial companies. There are three types of forex brokers in this market: local brokers, whose business is limited to Hong Kong; international brokers who have expanded their business to the Hong Kong forex market since the 1970s; international brokers that grow locally and has expanded their business to forex markets abroad. In an attempt to help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of current status of forex brokers in Hong Kong, WikiFX survey team determines to pay on-site visits to local companies.

On-site visit

In this issue, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit forex broker GFS as planned according to its regulatory address that Room 1804 Beverly House, 93-107 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

Based on publicly available information, the target address was identified as Room 1804, Beverly House, 93-107 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Located in Wan Chai's core commercial district, Beverly House sits in a bustling area with dense pedestrian traffic, surrounded by restaurants, retail shops, and residential buildings. The location benefits from convenient transportation and a thriving commercial environment.

Upon arrival, the inspection team successfully entered the building lobby and examined the floor directory. The directory clearly indicated that Room 1804 was registered under “BRILLIANCE MAN & COMPANY”, which showed no connection to the target company GFS. Furthermore, no signage or logos related to GFS were found in the lobby or common areas.

The team then proceeded to the 18th floor via elevator. A recheck of the floor directory confirmed that Room 1804 was still labeled as “Brilliance Man & Company.” Upon reaching the office, the team observed that the door was closed with no company nameplate, logo, or any visible identifiers. Through the glass door, the interior appeared empty, with no office equipment or personnel activity.

Although the inspection team had full access to the building and the 18th floor, they were unable to enter the office itself. The lack of visible operations and closed-door status indicated that the office was not open to visitors. Additionally, building management staff confirmed they had no record of GFS operating at this address, further supporting the conclusion that the company does not maintain an active presence here.

A final check of the surrounding area confirmed that Beverly House is not a co-working space, and Room 1804 showed no indication of being a multi-tenant unit. Based on the absence of corporate branding, the vacant office condition, and management verification, the inspection team concluded that GFS does not operate from this location, ruling out any possibility of shared office arrangements.

Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that the broker does not have a physical presence at the above address.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit forex broker GFS as scheduled, but did not find the company at its regulatory address. It indicates that the broker does not have a physical business office at the place. Accordingly, investors are advised to make a judicious decision following much deliberation.
