The forex market has become more and more active, developing into an international forex market. Hong Kong forex market is an invisible market without a fixed trading venue. Traders conduct forex transactions through various modern communication facilities and computer networks. Hong Kong’s geographical location and time zone conditions are similar to those of Singapore, making it very convenient to trade with other international forex markets. Participants in Hong Kong forex market are mainly commercial banks and financial companies. There are three types of forex brokers in this market: local brokers, whose business is limited to Hong Kong; international brokers who have expanded their business to the Hong Kong forex market since the 1970s; international brokers that grow locally and has expanded their business to forex markets abroad. In an attempt to help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of current status of forex brokers in Hong Kong, WikiFX survey team plans to pay on-site visits to local companies.

On-site visit

In this issue, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit forex broker Blackwell Global as planned according to its regulatory address that 26/F, Overseas Trust Bank Building, 160 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The seasoned and professional inspection team, committed to safeguarding investor interests, conducted a meticulously planned on-site verification of the broker Blackwell Global in Overseas Trust Bank Building at 160 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai.

The investigators successfully arrived at the Overseas Trust Bank Building located at 160 Gloucester Road. The primary objective was to confirm the physical presence of the target company and verify the accuracy of its registered address. The building is situated in Wan Chai's core business district, surrounded by mature commercial infrastructure and convenient transportation. Gloucester Road experiences heavy traffic flow, with a vibrant business atmosphere and dense pedestrian activity, exemplifying a typical Hong Kong commercial office environment. The Overseas Trust Bank Building exhibits distinct architectural features characteristic of financial institutions, blending seamlessly with neighboring office towers of similar standards.

No external signage or information related to the broker Blackwell Global was found on the building’s exterior. To proceed with the verification, the investigators entered the building. Access to the lobby was unobstructed, and a thorough review of the directory confirmed “Blackwell Global” clearly listed on the 26th floor, serving as critical preliminary evidence of the company’s tenancy.

The investigators proceeded to the 26th floor via elevator. Upon arrival, Blackwell Global’s branded signage/logo was visibly displayed, conclusively confirming the company’s operational presence at this location.

Despite confirming the company’s signage, the inspectors were not granted access to the internal office space, precluding further observation of the working environment or additional details.

Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that the broker maintains a physical presence at the above address.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker Blackwell Global as scheduled and found the company at its regulatory address. It signifies that the broker has a physical office at the place. Meanwhile, investors are advised to make a well-considered decision following much deliberation.
