Promise of High Returns
In August 2024, Vaishnavi Nair (victim) filed a complaint at the Supela Police Station in Durg. She told the police that she was studying engineering at BIT Durg in 2016. He met his junior, Tanmay (Culprit), there who lived in Nagpur. They got to know each other.
One day during their conversation, Tanmay told Vaishnavi about the Bitcoin online trading game. The young man lured her to invest money in this, which returned high profits. She was convinced and invested Rs 7800 in the beginning. A few days later, he returned a profit of Rs 6500 to Vaishnavi.
After This victim began making small investments through the app. She invested Rs 73,051, Rs 5,10,362, and Rs 30,31,299 in various installments. Later, when the returns were not received, the girl questioned Tanmay, but he neglected her and stopped responding. Then she reported this incident to the police.
Then Nagpur police tracked him down and arrested him. Police discovered that his father is currently working as a central GST official in Nagpur.
