I was keeping an eye on the EUR/USD, which usually has a tight spread, so I thought I had my bases covered. They had quoted me a spread of something like 1.5 pips, which is pretty standard in the industry. So, I gave it a shot.
But, did things go downhill from there. As soon as I hit that execute button, things kinda went south. My order didn't execute at the price I intended. Instead, it filled at quite a different rate. I clearly remember, it was a 3 pip difference, way higher than my expected spread, eating into my trade profitability.
