Nifty 50 is a benchmark stock index in the Indian capital market. It represents the average of the 50 largest companies listed on the National Stock Exchange. Traders can either buy stocks directly at the market price, as shown on the index, or buy through index mutual funds that mimic the performance of Nifty 50. A float-adjusted, market capitalization-weighted methodology is employed to compute the Nifty 50 index.
