Abstract:Crypto.com secures VASP license in Argentina, offering compliant crypto services amid high inflation.
Crypto.com has officially been registered as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) by Argentina's National Securities Commission (CNV), effective from March 17, 2025. This approval enables Crypto.com to legally offer regulated cryptocurrency services nationwide.
The registration represents a significant milestone for Crypto.coms growth strategy in Latin America, a region where cryptocurrency adoption is accelerating. Notably, Argentina stands out due to its challenging economic conditions, including persistent high inflation, which has driven many citizens to consider cryptocurrencies as a more stable alternative to traditional fiat currencies.
With the VASP license, Crypto.com can now introduce localized crypto products tailored specifically to the Argentinian market. Initially, it plans to launch an ARS fiat wallet, providing users with more seamless ways to interact with digital assets directly in Argentine pesos.
According to recent market research, cryptocurrency adoption in Argentina has significantly increased, with approximately 46% of users interested in using crypto-linked debit cards and 57% intending to invest in cryptocurrencies within the next year. This trend reflects growing confidence and interest among Argentinians in digital currencies, partly driven by economic uncertainty.
Globally, Crypto.com has actively pursued regulatory compliance, obtaining licenses in multiple regions, including MiCA in Europe, a payment institution license in Singapore, and a VASP license in Dubai. The registration in Argentina further extends its regulated presence in key international markets.
