This critical update from the EPFO is about consolidating databases in a planned manner and upgrading software applications for the claims processing system, the notice stated. The notice added that the system migration will happen to ensure enhanced service delivery, improved processing efficiency and a superior user experience.
The transition process will disable claim submission and processing through the EPFO portal from 00:00 hours (midnight) on June 26, 2026, to 23:59 hours on June 28, 2026.
The processing of claims submitted before the migration period will resume after the scheduled portal downtime.
According to the notification, the EPFO expects that the services will be restored fully by 00:00 hours (midnight) on June 29, 2026. While the EPFO is quick to issue an apology for the temporary inconvenience to be faced by users, it notifies that the upgrade is meant for faster, more reliable and more secure services. For any assistance, the retirement body shared a call centre number (14470) for its subscribers.
Even during the software upgrade period, EPFO subscribers can check their provident fund balance, passbook of several EPF accounts or track their application status through WhatsApp, missed call, SMS or the UMANG app.
