Fake ‘cyber fraud online complaint’ website Exposed!

In India, the government provides a free platform for reporting cyber fraud called the National CyberCrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), where any victim can file a complaint without any cost. However, today‘s fraudsters have become clever. They’ve even created a fake website resembling the NCRP to trick victims into registering their complaints and charging them a service fee while pretending to offer help.

The victim complained about this incident to the Bangalore, India Police Station. The police began an investigation after receiving a complaint from Srinivas R. through the cybercrime helpline, 1930, which helps victims and registers cases of cyber fraud on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP).

FAKE WEBSITE SCAM

The police uncovered that a mysterious individual had launched a fraudulent website named “Cyber Fraud Online Complaint—Cyber Crime Complaint Number 7501141599, Customers Legal Advice (www.customerslegaladvice.in)” and was promoting it through Google ads as a paid advertisement. Through this website or number, he duped people.

On January 26, a cyber-fraud victim, Srinivas R., from Bagalkote, called the given mobile number to report the incident. The culprit promised the victim to help but tricked the victim into paying Rs 1,999 as a “service fee.” The victim then informed the authorities.
